The Journal
The Tennessee Journal of Law & Policy is a student-run publication that is published twice yearly with special issues occasionally. The first issue was published in Fall 2004.
The Journal analyzes the latest developments in law and public decision-making. It explores areas touching on a number of disciplines and attracts readers from a variety of professional interests. By publishing essays and commentaries, in addition to traditional scholarly articles, the Journal offers a unique addition to the scholastic environment of the University.
Annual Symposium
The Journal, supported by the University of Tennessee Center for Advocacy and Dispute Resolution, hosts a symposium each year on a current policy issue. The spring 2009 symposium, entitled “Asking Jurors to do the Impossible,” attracted nationally-noted experts on jury instructions from across the country, as well as many Tennessee judges as workshop leaders and attendees. This year the TJLP Board and the Advocacy Center decided to focus the symposium on forensic medicine and its application in the legal realm, particularly the lingering controversy over the admissibility of forensic evidence and the development of forensic evidence beyond DNA analysis.
The Spring 2010 Symposium, “One Advocate’s ‘Junk Science’ Is Another Advocate’s Evidence: Forging a Path Beyond DNA Analysis in Forensic Science,” will take place on Friday, March 26, 2010. For more information, contact: mrice15@utk.edu.
Submission Guidelines
The Journal welcomes well-researched manuscripts on any area of law and related disciplines. We prefer that article citations conform to the guidelines set forth in "A Uniform System of Citation," 17th edition. Submissions are accepted year round.
The Journal accepts hard copy and electronic submissions. Please email submissions in Word format to ajordan9@utk.edu.
