FACULTY
From Greg Stein, Associate Dean for Faculty Development:
Prof. Penny White presented the keynote address on "Judicial Independence" at the annual meeting of the South Carolina Judiciary in Columbia, SC, on August 21. Judges from all of the courts in South Carolina attended, as did judicial clerks, staff attorneys, and members of the South Carolina General Assembly. Congratulations to Prof. White for her ongoing work with current members of the judiciary!
The Southeastern Association of Law Schools has just completed its leadership transition for the year, and the University of Tennessee is well represented. Prof. Joan Heminway continues to serve as a Trustee of the organization and also serves as member of the Committee on Program Format. Prof. Jeff Hirsch is the chair of the New Scholars Committee. Prof. Ben Barton is a member of the Mentor Committee. Congratulations to all for helping UT maintain its prominent leadership role in this important academic organization!
A message from Russell Weaver, Executive Director of SEALS: "One way that SEALS tries to advise faculty of new and breaking information is through our blog which can be found here. Whenever something new is announced (e.g., we open up the room block, the program for next year is posted, a room penalty date is approaching), it is announced on the blog. If you could sign up for the blog, and encourage your faculty friends and colleagues to do so, I'd be most appreciative."
