Phi Alpha Delta
UT Law Ambassadors Program
Mission Statement
The UT Law Ambassadors Program was created by the McReynolds Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta to better inform prospective students about the College of Law and the Knoxville area.
How It Works
Ambassadors give personal advice to their soon-to-be peers on many topics, including academics, diversity, extracurriculars/involvement, housing, law school community, Knoxville community, out of state concerns, and some were even UT undergrads. PAD members serving as ambassadors give real, practical advice to prospective students while serving as the first introduction to UT Law’s welcoming, accepting student body.
Questions regarding any of the following topics should be directed to the Admissions Office, or other office as noted:
- likelihood of admission
- wait-list
- scholarships / financial aid
- deposits / attendance
- residency requirements
- student insurance (Student Health Service)
- safety issues (UT Police Department)
PAD Chapter History and Information
Phi Alpha Delta is unique in that it is the only law fraternity which was founded as a result of a legal controversy. The fraternity was founded on certain principles and ideals: integrity, compassion, courage, and professional service. Our local chapter emulates these standards through our activities.
Local Chapter History
The McReynolds Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta was chartered on May 25, 1916. It was named after James Clark McReynolds, who was an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Attorney General under President Wilson. Our chapter performs many activities in both the law school and local community; such activities include but are not limited to running the law school’s outline library each semester, volunteering at the annual county-wide free flu shot clinic, organizing a canned food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank, providing a free finals breakfast to the entire law school each semester, and administering the UT Law Ambassadors Program.
