ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Dean and Dean's Staff Advisory Committee invite the law school community to join in the Colleges Clean Start Drive by contributing items for distribution to Knox Area Rescue Ministries shelter and recovery residents. Items being collected for the Clean Start Drive include travel- or trial-size toiletries such as soaps, toothpaste, shampoo, and grooming items such as combs, toothbrushes, washcloths, and towels. The Business Office (Law Suite 265) will be the Clean Start Donation Location throughout the month of November. Please join in helping Knox Area Rescue Ministries to help our community.

The Student Bar Association is hosting a Final Exam Dinner for all students, faculty, and staff in the Baker Rotunda beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4.

The UT Office of Equity and Diversity Experience has scheduled its workshops for Fall 2007. The schedule may be found here.

FACULTY

Prof. Glenn Reynolds has published "Suicide and the Living Constitution," a review of Richard Posner's Not A Suicide Pact: The Constitution in a Time of National Emergency, in the inaugural issue of the Baker Center Journal of Applied Public Policy, published by UT's Howard Baker Center. Prof. Reynolds also authored a column for the New York Post on the Supreme Court's decision to hear Heller v. District of Columbia, the Washington D.C. gun-ban case. It is available here.

STUDENTS

The Clayton Center for Entrepreneurial Law is seeking expressions of interest from students wishing to be Center Research Associates during the Summer of 2008. Duties include research and writing on business and business law related topics in a structured environment. Work product will include briefs, transactional documents, teaching materials, books, and articles. Time sheets required. The positions offer an opportunity to explore how law is actually practiced in a business law firm environment as well as the practical, micro-level details of business litigation and transactions. If you are interested, please supply Prof. George Kuney with your resume and an expression of interest in the form of a letter explaining your relevant qualifications, prior accomplishments, and reasons for being interested in the position. Selections will be made early in the '08 Spring Semester.
