Forum Feb. 9 to discuss summer program in Beijing, China
Professor Greg Stein and Professor Tom Wilson of the Robert H. McKinney School of Law at Indiana University wil lead a forum Feb. 9 during the free hour for students wishing to participate in a summer study abroad program in Beijing, China. The room will be announced later.
The program, sponsored by Indiana University, is May 18 through June 16 and offers a 4 week/5 credit or 2 week/2 credit summer study program. The curriculum provides an overview of the Chinese legal system and focuses on Chinese domestic law relating to the country's emerging market economy. The program is hosted by Renmin University of China Law School, generally recognized as China's premier law school. Classes are taught in English by Chinese faculty who are experts in their fields.
Stein served as Visiting Fulbright Professor of Law at Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, during the spring semester of 2003 and returned to Shanghai as a Fulbright Senior Specialist during the summer of 2005. During his time in China, he had the opportunity to conduct research into Chinese real estate law, with a focus on how real estate professionals in China operate against an uncertain and rapidly evolving legal backdrop. He recently has written several articles in this area
Wilson is director of the Indiana law school’s LL.M. program in American Law for Foreign Lawyers, director of the Joint Center for Asian Law Studies—in partnership with Renmin University School of Law in Beijing—and co-director of the Chinese Law Summer Program. He will participate in the Feb. 9 forum via video webcast.
