Government Documents

The University of Tennessee Law Library has been a participant in the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) since 1970. This program provides participants with federal publications via the Government Printing Office (GPO). Our library currently selects about 21% of the publications available from GPO. As a Law Library, selections feature primarily legal materials as well as items of particular interest to citizens of the state. Under the terms of the Depository Library Program these materials are available for use by the public during all hours of the library is operation.
As society moves into the electronic information age, the FDLP and GPO are playing a major role in delivering government information on-line to the public. GPO Access, is the Depository Program's main resource page. It includes the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications, a searchable index of government information.
The University of Tennessee Libraries' Documents and Microforms Department currently selects about 83% of publications, maps, and electronic data distributed by the Government Printing Office.
Another comprehensive site, Federal Web Locator, is a service provided by the Center for Information Law and Policy and is intended to be the one stop shopping point for federal government information on the World Wide Web.
