Off-Campus Interviewing Consortia

Following is a list of off-campus job conferences in which UT College of Law students may participate. Check with Career Services for more information about any of these events.


Patent Law Interview Program

In early August, the Patent Law Interview Program in Chicago gives students with an engineering or science-related degree the opportunity to interview with intellectual property law firms, government agencies and corporations from across the country. This job fair is sponsored by Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Registration takes place in early April.

Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair

In early August, the Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair gives students who are interested in the broad field of intellectual property a chance to meet with legal employers throughout the southeast to interview for summer clerkships and permanent positions. This job fair is held at the Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta. Registration takes place in June.

Southeastern Minority Job Fair

In early August, the Southeastern Minority Job Fair (SEMJF) in Atlanta brings together more than 100 legal employers from across the nation. This conference is sponsored by 39 law schools and typically attracts about 600 students. Registration takes place in June.

Southeastern Law Placement Consortium

In mid-August, the Southeastern Law Placement Consortium (SELPC), takes place in Atlanta. Sponsored by 12 Southeastern law schools, this conference attracts many national employers and may be of particular interest to students seeking employment outside of Tennessee. Registration takes place in June.

Mid-Atlantic Legal Recruiting Conference

In late August, the Mid-Atlantic Legal Recruiting Conference (MALRC) is held in Washington, DC. This job fair gives students from 7 Southeastern law schools an opportunity to interview with law firms and government agencies. Registration takes place in July.

Equal Justice Works Career Fair, Conference & Awards Dinner

In late October, Equal Justice Works hosts its annual Career Fair, Conference and Awards Dinner in Washington, DC. This event focuses on opportunities with government agencies, legal services offices, civil rights organizations, consumer and environmental advocates, and other representatives of the public interest community. Students may apply for 20-minute interviews, or talk with most participating employers during "Table Talk" sessions. Registration takes place in early September.

Nashville Bar Association Minority Recruitment Program for 1Ls

In late February, the Nashville Bar Association's Damali Booker 1L Minority Job Fair gives students an opportunity to meet with various Nashville-area employers who are committed to increasing diversity in the legal workplace. Registration takes place in January.

Atlanta Legal Hiring Conference

In mid-March, the Atlanta Legal Hiring Conference (ALHC) takes place on the campus of Georgia State University in Atlanta. Sponsored by 13 Southeastern law schools, this conference is designed specifically to bring 1Ls, 2Ls and 3Ls together with employers from Georgia. Registration takes place in February.
