Specifically, the requirement that criminal defense attorneys have an obligation to advise their immigrant clients (both documented and undocumented) about the immigration consequences of criminal convictions. The program will give Tennessee attorneys an overview of basic immigration concepts and an introduction on how to evaluate whether a criminal conviction, diversion, or plea will have an adverse affect on their client’s immigration status.
