The Lineup:
2:00-2:30 pm Douglas Blaze, Dean, UT College of Law, “Greater Access to Justice: The Ethical Foundations.”Dean Blaze will discuss the growing gap between the legal needs of low-income Tennesseans and available legal representation and recent responses by the Bar and the Tennessee Supreme Court to help address the crisis, including new amendments to the Tennessee Rules of Professional Responsibility.
2:30-3:00 pm Judy Cornett, Professor, UT College of Law, “The Ethics of Blawging.” Professor Cornett’s lecture will focus on ethical issues that may face lawyers who blog.
3:00-4:00 pm Martin W. Cash, Esq. Ridenour & Ridenour, “Staying in Bounds During ADR.”Mr. Cash will address how to handle ethical issues that arise in the ADR process, looking at these issues from the mediator’s perspective, and from the attorney’s perspective.
4:00-4:15 pm Break
4:15-5:15 pm Charles D. Susano, Jr. Judge, Tennessee Court of Appeals,“Summary Judgment in Tennessee.” Judge Susano will discuss Byrd v. Hall and its progeny: Hannan v. Alltel and Martin v. Norfolk Southern Railway.
