The American Bar Association elected Howard Vogel to serve a three year term on the Association’s Board of Governors during the 2008 ABA Annual Meeting in New York City. Vogel will be one of 40 representatives on the Board of Governors who are in charge of administration and management of the Association. Vogel’s commitment to the ABA spans nearly thirty years. He has chaired various committees, served as editor-in-chief of the association’s Barrister magazine and is a former member of the ABA Journal editorial board among other duties.
Vogel is also active in the Tennessee Bar Association and the Knoxville Bar Association, having served as president of both organizations. In December, 2007, he was awarded the Knoxville Bar Association’s Governors Award. He was named one of the 101 Best Lawyers in Tennessee by the Tennessee Business magazine in January of 2004 and January of 2005 and was selected as one of the 150 Best Lawyers in Tennessee by the Tennessee Business magazine in January of 2006.
In addition to a career as a trial lawyer, Vogel has mediated over 1500 civil disputes. He is a fellow in the International Academy of Mediators and a member of its Board of Governors.
