- University of the West Indies (Kingston, Jamaica)
Post-Graduate Diploma in Education - B.S., Florida Institute of Technology
Working at her father’s law firm in Kingston, Jamaica, Kristina was constantly exposed to the fact that the justice and legal systems are complicated and not easily understood by all. She watched her father use his skills to help those who sought justice, but she did not seriously consider a career in law for herself at that time. She taught Mathematics and Information Technology in Jamaica while completing requirements for an M.B.A., and worked as a financial counselor and LSAT tutor in Knoxville, before returning to the classroom to study law.
“Choosing to attend the University of Tennessee College of Law has been the best decision that I have made in recent years. The faculty, staff and students here are amazing! The opportunities to belong and to serve are numerous. Volunteering with the Saturday Bar program has allowed me to feel like a part of the legal community although I am only a student and volunteering with the Street Law program allowed me to teach students at an inner city high school about the law, their rights and the consequences of their actions. These programs help me achieve my desire to contribute to my community in a meaningful way. I am very sure that I have chosen the right career path and the right law school.”
