How To Apply for College of Law Public Interest Law Fellowships
There are two internal sources of funds at the College of law that
support summer jobs in public interest law: the Kolwyck Equal
Access to Justice Fund and the Tennessee Association for
Public Interest Law (TAPIL).
In some years the Kolwyck Fund is also able to support two law
student fellows during the school year. Students interested in one
of these term-time positions should contact Professor Doug Blaze,
at 974-2331, for more information.
As for summer fellowships, Kolwyck and TAPIL have created a consolidated
form, so students can apply to both programs using identical applications.
Click here to download a PDF version of the form. The deadline for
summer fellowships is announced annually in the spring, and is usually
some time in March.
Students must take the initiative in identifying a summer placement
and securing an offer of employment prior to the application deadline.
Career Services and members of the faculty/student Pro Bono & Public
Interest Law Committee are happy to provide information and advice
about ways to identify possible placements in specific areas of
interest.
An application form (in PDF format) is available here.
